“Hitchhikers Guide to Bronze”

“Hitchhikers Guide to Bronze”
By Dragon Angel
Well hey there, champ! Looks like you finished up those provisional games and got placed in Bronze.
Tough break. Don’t fret though! I’m here to give you a quick rundown of what you might experience
during these trying times, and the necessary tools you’ll need to claw your way to the top! (of Bronze. To
get out of Bronze).
Now your special situation first is based off of tier. Here’s a general idea of the type of people you will
encounter the majority of the time you spend in these specific tiers.
●Bronze I: Mostly comprised of summoners who either
A.Are of above average skill on any given day and unfortunately caught the shaft during provisional
B.Are not nearly as good as they think they are
C.Assume they will only ever have to play one role (A.K.A. the only one they are good at)
D.Trolls
●Bronze II: This is about as middle of the bottom of the barrel as it gets. Filled to the brim with
summoners who
A.Just got freshly demoted decide it’s the worlds fault (Which is their justification for throwing your
last promo game, keeping you stuck in Bronze II)
B.Are well rounded in every role, but are also toxic jerks whose goal is to make sure you know that
they are good, and you are not
C.Trolls
●Bronze III: This is where things get scary. Many times you will encounter summoners who
A.Have average to below average skill but are doing their best to climb the ranks (not so scary)
B.Go into que pissed of and demand roles and champs every game
C.Make the most ridiculous bans based off of their previous game where they got killed 7 times by
a mao’kai
D.Trolls
●Bronze IV: Now this one is a little different. Half of the summoners reach a certain point where
they are tired of being low tier. So instead of being toxic jerks that think they’re better, they
actually start to practice and communicate well so they can get the hell out of Bronze. The other
half being delusional and/or trolls.
●Bronze V: … We’re not going to talk about Bronze V. You’re on your own pal. Good luck.
Now, there are many ways to handle each individual situation. You could be a toxic punk, be mean,
troll, and essentially ruin the game for everyone because you’re mad about your placement.
BUT
If you don’t want to go that route, here are 5 tips that could (not saying they will) help you climb the
hell-scorched ladder out of Bronze Tier
1.Don’t suck: Seriously. I’m not kidding. If you are not well versed in every role, don’t play ranked.
That’s the mistake I made and ended up getting placed low because I ended up playing a lot of
provisional in the 2 lanes I was at the time horrid at (Mid and Top .-.)
2.Remain calm: I know how difficult it can be to not explode when you’re the only one focusing the
fed Vayne while the rest of your team decides it’s a good idea to focus Shen and his straight tank
build. Which I’m sure we can all agree that decisions like that are REALLY STUPID *takes deep
breath* BUT *takes another* yelling at your team and acting like the best is not conducive to
winning games. If you start yelling and insulting people, it’s not going to make them play better or
want to cooperate with you. The way to handle things like that, is do your best to calmly explain
why certain plays need to be made/certain objectives need to be taken/certain champs need to
be focused. (Which you’ll have plenty of time for while waiting to respawn because the enemy
team just got their 3rd ace on you under 25 minutes.
3.Be the best YOU that YOU can be: At the end of the day, the only summoner whose play you can
control is your own. Sometimes you’re going to need to be good enough to carry 1 or 2
summoners worth of dead weight. But if you do your absolute best to be the best you that you
can be, not get tilted because of others poor decision making, and keep a level head, as long as
you have well rounded skills you will win more games
4.THE MUTE BUTTON IS YOUR ONLY TRUE FRIEND IN SOLO QUE:  Honest truth. Don’t stand for
nonsense, don’t fuel the fire, and don’t stoop to a moron’s level. If someone is trolling, or being
abusive, or just flat out annoying the crap out of you, just hit the damn mute button. It takes
literally 2 seconds, and you will be a better player for it.
And last but not least
5.Keep in mind that at the end of the day, League of Legends is a GAME. Games are meant to be
FUN. And if it’s not, stop playing. Not forever, just for the night. Or maybe a day or two, maybe a
week, even a month. Sometimes breaks are necessary if you ever want to get better. Playing with
a poor attitude constantly is only going to make things worse. So if you having more stress fits
than fun, step away for a bit, come back with a level head when you are ready, and go kick some
butt!
And that’s it. Do those 5 things, and there’s a good chance you can work your way up. ^_^

Champion and Skin Sale Breakdown: 2/14 – 2/17

Champions:

Lucian (487 RP) – Lucian is in a great place as an ADC (Marksmen) right now.  He can take advantage of Trinity Force, and he can kite well with his kit.  His ultimate is great for sieging / stopping a siege and also for finishing kills beyond auto attack range. We highly recommend that if you play ADC and want to add a new champion to your pool that you take advantage of this week’s sale and grab Lucian!

Leona (440 RP) – Leona is also in a great place in the current meta.  She is a tanky support champion with an insanely powerful engage if used correctly.  Leona can carry a lane and feed an ADC very quickly, but if she gets shut down early and her lane falls behind she can become somewhat useless without jungler help.  However, she offers utility throughout the game no matter how behind she is, so she will never be useless late game no matter what happens.  Leona can build pure support / tank and be a very productive member of the team.  We highly recommend picking up Leona this week if you are fond of tanky supports with strong initiation.

Katarina (395 RP) – Katarina has been picked a few times this NA LCS split.  Unfortunately, her success rate has been very low, and her performances have highlighted the biggest problem with Katarina: she can easily be shutdown in lane and put behind for the entire game.  However, if Katarina gets fed a few early kills she can dominate the game and snowball out of control.  Her ultimate, when used correctly and not interrupted, can completely turn a team fight into her favor.  She also thrives on kills, as she is a reset based champion, and she is a lot of fun to play due to her reset mechanic.  If you play mid lane, or even top lane, give Katarina a try!

Skins:

Debonair Jayce (487 RP) – Bring a little class to the Rift with Debonair Jayce.  Perfect for duoing with your Valentine this year!

Heartseeker Vayne (487 RP) – Slay your enemies with style and leave them a Valentine’s Day card to remember you by.  This is a fun skin and a perfect Valentine’s Day outfit for carrying that Bronze 5 boyfriend of yours to victory!

Jack of Hearts Twisted Fate (260 RP) – There isn’t much to say about this skin.  If you like the colors, go for it.  If you don’t like the colors, don’t buy it.  If you’re not sure… Pick a card to decide.  10 or higher and you buy it!

Happy Valentine’s Day Skin Sale everyone, and save some money for chocolate (whether it be for your significant other or yourself!)
